Lively Japanese Culture Days at CTU!

On March 10th- 11th 2015, the exciting cultural exchange program with the theme "Japanese Culture Days" lively took place at Can Tho University (CTU), organized under the coordination of the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and Japan Foundation.

Attending the opening session at the side of the Consulate General of Japan were Ms. Nakano Eriko-Consul, Head of Culture Department and Ms. Vu Nguyen Quynh Nhu- Cultural Assistant. From Japan Foundation were Mr. Sato Naoki-Japanese Language Expert and Ms. Noguchi Sami-Japanese Language Teacher to exchange and introduce Japanese culture to students of CTU. Also attending the opening were Ms. Le Thi Thanh Giang, Executive Vice President of Can Tho City’s Union of Friendship Organizations; representatives and researchers from Yanmar Research Center. At CTU’s side was Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Viet Dung-Vice Rector; representatives of staff and students who are interested in exploring Japanese culture.

The ""Japanese Culture Days" were extremely impressed and attracted the attention of numerous students who are eager to learn and experience the unique cultures of “the Land of the Sun" with charming Cherry flowers famous around the world. Joining the program, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the culture, country and people of Japan, the friendship between Vietnam and Japan, as well as the traditional relationship between CTU with Japanese counterparts since its establishment.

In addition, the students also had the exciting experiences of paper folding art of Origami, a unique part of the traditional culture of of Japan. They were also very excited and eager to participate in the “fun quiz” to discover Japan, the relationship between Vietnam and Japan, some cultural similarities of the two countries. “Learning Japanese for Beginners" with Japanese teachers Japanese from Japan Foundation in Vietnam was also very impressive, attracting the large number of students to participate to practice speaking Japanese. One of other interesting activities the students joined enthusiastically was trying the art of wearing summer Yukata, and felt the wonderful experience when trying on Yukata and Happi.

This Japanese cultural festival particularly meets the desire of CTU’s students to learn about the culture of Japan. In the context of comprehensive international integration, the program motivates students to continue making their efforts to widen their knowledge and their understanding of the world, especially in improving foreign languages proficiency for thier future work, while actively exchanging with international friends.
