Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum is one of the elegant species from China. It has the unusual habit of not blooming from the new growth until the second year. Plants thrive if left to develop into specimen size with much greater flower production.

We specialize in the production of new plants through seed and tissue
culture. These propagules are available internationally. We encourage
home flasking of seed and plant tissue culture by supplying equipment,
media and sterile plant material to help with your production.

All aspects of home orchid growing are fun! You can do it!

Lealia sincorana
Paphiopedilum sukhakulii

It is a prime example of a species which has been over collected in it's natural habitat but remains out of danger of extinction because it is widespread in orchid collections around the world. It is a beautiful species in both its leaves and flowers. The leaves are highly tesselated (checkerboard pattern) as an adaption to discourage grazing by forest floor herbivores.
