CENTRAL
LIBRARY
Cantho
University Library was founded in 1966. Its system consists of the Central
Library and eight branch libraries.
Its collections are centrally acquired and classified according to Dewey Decimal
Classification System. The Central Library maintains a large collection of
books, journals and newspapers in different languages: Vietnamese, English,
French, Chinese, Japanese...especially the specialized collection of FAO, OMS,
IRRIS, JARQ...

MISSIONS &
OBJECTIVES
1.
Providing the resources, services and facilities necessary to support the
missions of the university and the increasing knowledge need of its faculties,
students, and staff.

Centrally acquiring and classifying all kinds of materials.
3.
Professional training for
the branch libraries and “Satellite” libraries.
4.
Integrating and exchanging
information with the international and national academic libraries.

General Reading Room: 300 seats. Reading privileges are available to
those whose present proper library
cards.

Journal & Newspaper Reading Room: 30 seats

Graduate Reading Room: 40 seats

Circulation Desk: Loans are three books per week for students and five
books per two weeks for teachers. Books can be renewed for an addition week or
two, but they must be brought to the Circulation Desk

Audio-visual Room: Training English and French listening skills with CNN,
TV5, CNBC…

Reference: Patrons are encouraged to ask for assistance at the reference desk
& other service desks.

OPAC: (Online Public Access Cataloging) allows users to search by titles,
authors, keywords, classification numbers, ISSN, ISBN… It performs full-text
searching on the abstract of publications or on the whole digitalized documents.

Electronic resources: Mainly CD-ROMs, are available at the Reference Desk and
Networking Section.

Photocopy: Request for photocopy will be considered at the librarian’s desk.
