In the afternoon of July 27, 2006, a delegation from Texas Tech University, the United States came and worked with the Rectorate Board of Can Tho University. Then, the Deputy Director of the Viet Nam Center of Texas Tech University, Mr. Steve Maxner, awarded 13 scholarships to students at different nine colleges and the Department of Physical Education at Can Tho University.

These scholarships enable students who have low social economic status or difficult financial conditions but very good academic achivements to partly pay for their tuition fees. This is one of the annual activities that enhances the relationship between Can Tho University and Texas Tech University.
