On October 16, 2006, Can Tho University (CTU) organized an international forum on Globalization and Integration in Higher Education. Interestingly, sixteen presenters from 15 universities and organizations in nine countries, namely Australia, Belgium, France, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the United States, and Viet Nam, participated in the forum together with more than 90 other participants, including those accompanying the presenters, international guests, researchers and students working and studying at Can Tho University, and CTU faculty and staff members.

Their presentations focus mainly on the current practices in the world higher education and globalization in higher education. What is important is through their reports the audiences can learn more about the practices of higher education of the above-mentioned countries and the development trends in higher education in the time to come.

A number of subtopics like “Information technology and e-learning in globalization in higher education,” “Community colleges in the context of globalization in higher education,” “Languages - globalization in higher education,” and “International industry - academia relationship of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology” diversify the theme of the forum. The forum provides an excellent opportunity for Can Tho University to look back at her successes and failures, to obtain an overview of current world trends in higher education and to delineate directions for her future development.
