INTRODUCTION The College of Sciences was established in 1996 with the initial missions of teaching Basic Sciences for students from various training programs in the University. Since then, the College has been improving and developing itself. It is now offering 3 bachelor training programs in Chemistry, Biology and Applied Mathematics with the total number of students reaching almost 400. In collaboration with the Institute of Chemical Technology, the University of Natural Sciences and the Institute of Physics in Ho Chi Minh City, the College of Sciences is currently offering 4 Master programs in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Ecology. These training programs annually supply the Mekong Delta with nearly 200 scientists and lecturers with Master degrees, greatly contributing to socio-economic development of the region. In addition to Bsc and Msc training, the College is also responsible for giving lectures on Basic Sciences (theory and practice) for more than 3000 students in the University, 2000 students from the School of Medicine and Pharmacy of Can Tho, newly-established Universities, Community Colleges and Continuing Education Centers in the regional Mekong Delta. Besides teaching, the College has actively been conducting scientific research and technology transfer, especially in Chemistry and Biology. Due to its missions, the College of Sciences plays an important role in ensuring the training quality of Can Tho University.
