Mission and Responsibility

 

School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA), formerly Faculty of Agricultural Economics, was established in accordance with Decision No. 791/QD-DH on July 30th, 1979 of the Ministry of Higher Education and Vocational Training (now the Ministry of Education and Training).

SEBA is one of the largest educational center in the Mekong River Delta that provides trained experts up to Master level in economics and business administration.

     SEBA also offers 03 major fields of study leading to master degree: Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance – Banking.

      In addition, SEBA provides short training courses to upgrade the knowledge of business practitioners and government officers.

     The school has cooperated with local provinces to undertake research that aims at contributing to the economic development of the Mekong Delta. A lot of research studies have been carried out by SEBA such as development of small and medium enterprises, marketing, rural development, and so on  in the Mekong Delta.

     Moreover, SEBA has successfully implemented several international cooperation projects that play an important role in upgrading the quality of staff members

Training

 

Every year, SEBA takes in around 1000 new students. So far SEBA has had more than 10,500 regular bachelor graduates from SEBA by regular training program and more than 8,000 in-service bachelor students.

Researches and training

 

Up to now, SEBA has successfully conducted several researches in cooperation with internal and international organizations. SEBA is focusing on researches in the following aspects:

·         Agricultural planning and rural development

·         Human resource management

·         Farming household development and poverty reduction project

·         Competitive and comparative analysis of major products in the MD

·         Potential market research

·         Development of small and medium enterprises

·         Credit and finance issue on agricultural production

·         Import and export promotion

·         Environmental economics project

 

Upon the pending establishment of the Center of Consultants, Training, Socio Economic Research and Development, SEBA will provide appraising projects as well as undertake projects on community development. Major training courses that SEBA can offer:

·         Production management

·         Quality management

·         Supply chain management

·         Assess the current financial situation of firms

·         Stock market

·         Brand development and management

·         Potential market analysis and forecasting

·         Marketing strategy and promotion campaigns

·         Marketing research and method of data analysis

·         Communication and negotiation skills

 

International Cooperation

 

·    SEBA has successfully cooperated with the Netherlands in MHO2 Program for the project "Upgrading teaching and research in Economics, Business and Law at Cantho University". 

·         NPT: This is a collaboration project between SEBA (CTU) and Dutch universities, funded by the Dutch government. Its main objective is to strengthen teaching and research capacity of SEBA’s staff in order to offer support to SMEs and farming households in the Mekong River Delta. It includes long-term and short-term training, improvement of research and consultancy capacity of SEBA’s staff, and outreach.

·         Cooperate with the Netherlands – Nuffic for the project "Enhancing the Capability of Teaching and Research, Assisting Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Farming Households".

·         The project "Distance Education for master degree in Economics" has been sponsored by VLIR Program (Belgium).

·         Some following projects have been implemented such as project on Seed Component (DANIDA), Agricultural Management and Rural Development - Spain Cooperative, GTZ project on Small & Medium Enterprises Promotion (German), AUSAid (Australia); EEPSEA (Singapore), and other projects collaborated with Hungary, Australia, and Canada.
