INTRODUCTION
The
College of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CAF), Can Tho University (CTU)
was re-established in 2002 after 25 years being subjected to a
number of organizational changes. CAF is one of nine
schools/colleges of CTU. The mandate of CAF is offering
educational programs and conducting research and technology
transfer to serve the development of aquaculture and fisheries of
the Southern part of Viet Nam. CAF has a long reputation about its
activities in the region. CAF has trained for over 2,500 graduates
at bachelor and master degrees and is providing different
educational programs in aquaculture and fisheries that include
bachelor degree (6 fields), master degree (1 field) started in
1999 and PhD degree (2 fields) commenced in 2006. There are 1,400
Bsc. and 80 postgraduate (Msc. and Ph.D) students are following
the educational programs at CAF. CAF has also made
remarkable successes in research and transfer of developed
technologies to contribute to the rapid growth of aquaculture and
fisheries sector in the Mekong delta and Vietnam as well. CAF is
growing to be one a key aquaculture and fisheries intuition in
Vietnam.
CAF has 39 instructors, 49 researcher and 31
administrators and workers. Most of CAF’s staff obtained
postgraduate degrees (16 Ph.D, 19 studying Ph.D and 17 Msc.).
